I get an error box saying "Can't open video device" when trying to run the game.

If you get this error and your desktop resolution is set higher than 1024x768, try (as a temporary workaround) to set it to 1024x768 and then run the game (resolution 1280x1024 should work fine when set in-game). This bug is quite rare and we're currently looking into it.
